Kwinana

Providing the correct product at the correct time is the brief for the six permanent staff at Bayer CropScience's formulation plant in Kwinana, Western Australia.

Responsible for formulation and distribution of broadacre products for Western Australia, and supporting South Australia and Victoria, the plant has been operating at full capacity in recent times due to favourable weather in WA.

Located 40 km south of Fremantle, the 1.8 hectare site can produce 3500 tonnes of herbicide per year. The plant contains a single tank system with several filling lines and has a storage capacity of 2800 tonnes.

Outside of peak season, the team participates in various training programs to increase their skill and adaptability, including the handling and storage of dangerous goods, first aid and forklift driving. The team also constantly reviews internal procedures and policies and effective operating practices. "With such a small crew, all our staff must be able to fill various roles. The fact we are so interchangeable is the key to our success as a team," says Stephen Flynn, Production Manager at the Kwinana plant.
